DARE TO BE YOURSELF.
1:1-COACHING: DESIGN YOUR ENGLISH
Be a person who doesn’t care which language they’re speaking and just luxuriate in the feeling of being yourself.
“I sound like an idiot.”
“God, it’s going to be so embarrassing when they hear my accent.”
“When did everyone get so fucking good at English? And where was I when that happened?!”
“I’d rather die than speak English in front of my friends.”
“A five year-old could have explained that better than I just did. God. Kill me now.”
– Your Inner Critic
Hi, inner critic. This is you:
You worry a lot about what other people think of you and are embarrassed about your English constantly.
You think that some career opportunities are out of the question for you because of your English.
You waste so much time trying to prepare for situations where you have to speak English, but mostly you just sit there and imagine all the worst-case scenarios.
You think that you have “no grammar” and “no vocabulary”.
You have at least one colleague or friend with “perfect English” who is showing off his perfect accent all the time (and who you secretly hate a little bit).
You sometimes think that your boss is making fun of you for your English and that she gives you international projects just to see you suffer…
Okay.
Let’s leave your inner critic aside for a moment. Don’t worry, he will still be there when you get back.
Let me ask you:
What do you dream of?
You want to be *that guy* at the party. Telling the amazing anecdote with a group of elegant admirers almost spilling their drinks because they’re laughing so hard.
You want to be *that lady* in the meeting expressing herself with such conviction and clarity that there is a pin-drop silence following her words.
You want to be a person who doesn’t give a shit about which language they’re speaking and just luxuriate in the feeling of being able to be yourself.
So, here is you right now:
You’ve had a number of language training courses and you’re planning to visit more.
You sometimes watch films and series in English.
You’re reading articles online, sometimes even books.
You’re thinking a lot about your English…
The problem? Thinking doesn’t get you there.
There you are. At home, in private. Thinking about the things you could do for your English. Saying to yourself that:
One Day, your English will be perfect.
One Day, you will surprise everyone with your wit and charm.
One Day, they will all be dumbstruck with awe when you open your mouth.
One Day, you will feel confident enough to enjoy yourself in these situations.
The problem is that you aren’t really doing anything actively to change how you feel when you speak English. As long as your mouth is closed, you are just cultivating your One Day-fantasy…
When you just sit there and read and watch and listen and think – you are hiding.
You know that to change something, you need to do something.
You need to make an investment.
You need to stop hiding and speak out.
We are all naturally lazy.
We want to avoid work. And pain. That’s why we spend so much time thinking about change instead of actually doing what we need to do. That’s why we listen to the inner critic telling us it’s not gonna work anyway. That’s why we are so drawn to offers that feature shortcuts, easy explanations, and promise us that we can achieve lasting change in 5 minutes a day. In a one-week course. In an hour a week. I don’t have to tell you that this is all bullshit. You already know that.
I’m not a native speaker of English.
I know.
Shocking.
But here’s the deal: I know what it takes to really learn languages.
How can I be so confident in English?
Was I born with a talent for languages? No, I was a pretty normal kid and didn’t start learning English until I was 11. Did I have the privilege of fancy private schools and foreign exchange programmes? No, I’m from a working class family with no money and the first time I ever even visited England, I was 25 years old.
So how did I learn English? Through obsession. Harry Potter is where I drew first blood (hey, I was 12, okay?), then that swapped over to literature in general, then theatre, then linguistics, later travel, certain people. I became obsessed with the English language.
I know how personal my own journey was and telling you to copy what I did would not be useful for you. Helping you find the things that work for you, that turn you on, that inspire you? That is what works because everyone’s process is different.
I am uniquely qualified because I didn’t get to where I am today thanks to my birth, my privilege or my God-given talent.
I got here because I was able to find my own way. Daring to find your own process and committing to it is what it takes to stay inspired.
But it’s also not easy to do on your own and that’s why I want to help.

Week 3: Making your message attractive for your listener.

Week 2: Improving your overall fluency by training you to be more spontaneous.

FAQs
What if I just don’t have a talent for languages, will EDGY be able to help me?
It’s not about talent. Maybe you’re not going to believe me now but the programme will prove to you that while our brains are all unique, there is a way for every person to break through and learn languages to a much higher level than they thought was possible. It’s a question of balancing out your motivation, mindset and methods and I will be there to help you do that.
I’m so busy at work, I’m not sure I have enough time for this.
Think of all the time you waste worrying about your English and the time you spend trying to find translations on crappy dictionary pages. EDGY will change your mindset about languages so that you will no longer need to worry, as well as teach you time-saving techniques and show you all the best tools for your English whenever you need it (including good dictionary pages that show you how to actually use the language flexibly). The programme will ask for about 5 hours of your time every week, but as we are working 1:1, we will make sure that it suits your schedule flexibly.
Is my English even good enough to be in this programme?
If you have been reading this sales page without major problems then yes, darling, your English is absolutely fine. This is an advanced offer and, definitely, to get the most out of my coaching you should have an upper-intermediate level (that’s about B2-C1). If your level is lower than that, I can recommend trainers who can serve you better than I can. If you’re having doubts, just give me a call.
Are there different payment options?
Yes, you can email me if you would like to pay in three monthly instalments (3 x 790 EUR). Alternatively, if you pay through PayPal, you should be able to select various pay later options in your PayPal account. Also, I have solidarity discounts available for artists and freelance creatives. If you’re unsure, let’s have a call and talk about your options!
Where will we meet?
If you’re in or around Hamburg, we can meet live and in colour in a place that you feel most comfortable. This can be in your home, in your office, in my garden, in a park or in my office. I also find restaurants particularly interesting because they simulate the stress of having other people hear you speak! Don’t worry, we’ll find the best way and we can try different things to see what suits you. If you’re not near me, we can meet online. I’m happy to meet you on any platform you like, with Zoom being my personal go-to. It’s also possible that instead of video-chatting, we just talk on the phone if that makes you more comfortable. Many people can actually concentrate better that way!
It’s kind of expensive for a language course.
EDGY is not a language course. EDGY is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to fundamentally change the way that you relate to the English language forever. It’s expensive because the fee buys you my undivided attention and the skills I have honed over a decade of experience working with English (not to mention the thousands I have invested in my own education and training to qualify me for this). If you think that a trainer who is charging you 30 Euros an hour can offer you the same quality then go ahead. There is certainly no shortage of offers out there! I’ll be here when you’re ready to get EDGY. 😎
